This version significantly enhances the texturing workflow with a focus on smarter baking, new material standards, and improved automation. Key Features & Enhancements Revolutionized Baking & Skew Correction: The update introduces a new Skew Correction painting workflow, allowing artists to paint directly on the 3D model to fix projection errors (skew) in baked normal maps. This solves a major challenge with hard-surface models. It is supported by continuous auto-rebaking; maps now update automatically when parameters change, eliminating the need for manual rebakes. OpenPBR Standard: The software now uses OpenPBR as its default shading model. This open standard ensures consistent material appearance across different DCC applications, improving interoperability and future-proofing assets. Hard-Surface UV Unwrapping: A new automatic UV unwrapping mode specifically designed for hard-surface and mechanical models minimizes distortion and generates orthographically aligned layouts, making texturing more accurate and efficient. Enhanced Viewport & UI: Artists can preview their work with new post-processing effects (lens flares, film grain) for better look development. Project setup has been streamlined, and a new Flatten action in the layer stack allows for quick texture exports while preserving the original layers as Smart Materials.
